Plavix is an antiplatelet drug; specific and active inhibitor of platelet aggregation; has a coronary-dilating effect. The use of Plavix is indicated for the prevention of atherothrombotic complications in adult patients with myocardial infarction in adult patients with an acute coronary syndrome. The drug is also indicated to prevent atherothrombotic and thromboembolic complications, including a stroke, atrial fibrillation in patients with atrial fibrillation, who have at least one risk factor for vascular complications and who cannot take indirect anticoagulants and have a low risk of bleeding.

Drug Uses
Plavix is an antiplatelet drug that helps prevent development of atherothrombosis regardless of the localization of atherosclerotic lesions. The antiplatelet therapy with Plavix can be indicated to the patients with acute coronary syndromes, atrial fibrillation and recent atherothrombotic events.
Plavix helps prevent long-term atherothrombotic events in the adult patients with acute coronary syndromes, and thereby reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack, re-infarction, cardiovascular death and refractory myocardial ischemic syndromes.

Missed Dose

More Information
The efficacy of Plavix after primary angioplasty is not confirmed. The patients with atrial fibrillation and acute coronary syndrome should use Plavix only in combination with aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid, ASA). Some patients with arterial fibrillation can be indicated with Plavix to reduce the risk of thromboembolic and atherothrombotic events.
