The pills are produced from the Foxglove woolly (medicinal plant). It has an inotropic and diuretic vasodilator effect. Lanoxin increases the content of sodium ions. During the intake, there are also the following changes in the body:

• exchange of sodium and potassium is activated;
• the amount of potassium ions becomes larger;
• the myocardium works more intensively;
• the level of shock blood volume becomes higher;

There is also a reducing of the size of the heart, as the pharmaceutic cuts the need for myocardium in oxygen.

The medicine has a soft diuretic effect, it reduces the frequency of swelling and shortness of breath. If you take it in large quantities, it will increase the irritability of the myocardium. Thus, the rhythm of the heart will be disturbed.

Lanoxin is often used with other drugs. This may not work when you are exercising or are under great physical or emotional stress. At this time other drugs AFib can work better.

If your level of potassium is below average (this can happen, for example, if you have insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, or you are taking diuretics), you are more likely to accumulate the drug. Therefore, you should make sure that you can identify early symptoms of digoxin overdose, such as nausea, loss of appetite, or a very slow heart rhythm. In case of arrhythmia, at the beginning of therapy, people use higher dosages-0.5 milligrams per day. If there is a sinus rhythm, the tablets are not used in high doses - 0.25 milligrams per day. If one has problems with the skin, the dosage rate is prescribed individually.

The approximate daily norm is 0.08 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. The same proportion should be used for fast, medium, or slow digitalization. The remedy is forbidden for people with:

• Unstable angina;
• Glycosides intoxication;
• Heart rhythm disturbance;
• Cardiac tamponade;
• Atrioventricular blockade;
• Mitral stenosis;
• High sensitivity to the drug components;
• Myocardial infarction (acute stage).

Side Effects

Adverse reaction mostly appears in the cardiovascular system. This is manifested in changes of heart rhythm. Tablets also have a ghost effect on the gastrointestinal tract. Nausea, lack of appetite, diarrhea, vomiting may appear. Such disorders as fatigue, apathy, general weakness, fear of light, headache, depression, psychosis, may develop in the central nervous system.

Sometimes there is a violation of gynecomastia that manifests in the endocrine system. The remedy may have a sideways action on the blood system (blood clots). Sometimes there are allergic reactions such as hives or itching. Adverse effects often occur with an overdose.
