Floxin is a synthetic antibacterial agent from the class of quinolone antimicrobial agent. The antibiotic has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action and is effective against aerobic gram-positive and aerobic gram-negative microorganisms, as well as anaerobic and other microorganisms.
Floxin inhibits the action of the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which leads to inhibition of cell division at the level of their DNA and further death. The antibiotic is prescribed to adolescents of 18 years and older and adults for the treatment of:
urinary tract infections (cystitis, urethritis)
pelvic inflammatory disorders (prostatitis, cervicitis)
uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections (abscesses, furuncles)
lower respiratory tract infection (chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia)
Due to its high bactericidal activity, Floxin is indicated for the treatment of infections, caused by the bacterium neisseria gonorrhoeae (uncomplicated urethral and cervical gonorrhea).
For the treatment of bacterial infections, the dose of the antibiotic Floxin is selected depending on the type of bacteria and disease severity. The recommended dose of the antibiotic in adults with normal renal function is 200 to 400 mg Floxin every twelve hours (400-800 mg of antibiotic per day).
Missed Dose
If you forget to take a Floxin dose, and the time for taking next dose comes soon, skip the forgotten dose of the antibacterial agent, you should not take two Floxin tablets at the same time. You can take the missed dose as soon as you can, only if there is much time left till the next dose of the antibacterial drug.

Floxin is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The antibiotic absorption is approximately 98%. The maximum concentration of the antibiotic in plasma is achieved within 1-2 hours after oral administration.
To reduce the development of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and for a maximum antibacterial effect, treatment with Floxin should begin after the diagnosis confirmation with strict adherence to the recommended dosing regimen.

Floxin Side Effects
