Tenorminis a cardioselective beta-adrenoblocker. It is based on a substance called Atenolol, which blocks nerve impulses, which leads to a decrease in the frequency and strength of the heartbeat. Atenolol has antihypertensive (lowers pressure), antianginal (eliminates the symptoms of myocardial ischemia) and antiarrhythmic (eliminates heart rhythm disturbances) by action.

Tenormin Product Description
Drug Uses
Tenormin is a cardioselective beta-blocker with antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic and antianginal activity. Tenormin is successfully used to treat hypertension and reduce the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events in patients aged 18 years and older. Oral Tenormin tablets are approved for short-term and long-term management of:
- cardiac arrhythmias (post-infarction period included);
- angina pectoris caused by coronary artery disease (CAD);
- disabling angina without signs of congestive heart failure (CHF);
- mild or moderate hypertension (as monotherapy);
- severe hypertension (in combination with peripheral vasodilators or/ and thiazides and thiazide-like diuretics).
In addition, Tenormin is used to reduce fatal cardiovascular events in patients with suspected or confirmed acute heart attack. Antihypertensive and antianginal effects are reached within 7-14 days after the start of using Tenormin tablets. The maximum dose of Tenormin for hypertensive patients is 100mg a day as a single dose. The patients with angina may need to increase Tenormin dose up to 200mg per day.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Tenormin, you may take it as soon as you remember if there is much time until the next dose of this beta blocker. If there is little time before the next dose of Tenormin, skip the missed tablet and do not double the prescribed dose.
More Information
The patients should be prescribed with injectable Tenormin for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias associated with acute heart attack. Tenormin intravenous injections should be administered only to hemodynamically stable patients. If the patient shows tolerance to the effects of the maximum intravenous dose of Tenormin 10 mg, he or she can be prescribed with Tenormin 50mg or 100mg oral tablets.
Storage
Tenormin tablets are advised to store at controlled room temperature between 15°C and 25°C. This beta blocker must be protected from light, heat and moisture.
Tenormin Safety Information
Warnings
Oral and injectable beta-blockers (including Tenormin) should not be administered to patients with congestive heart failure or acute heart attack who failed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events with IV Furosemide diuretic or equivalent intensive diuretic therapy.

Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic of bacteriostatic action. In high concentrations and relatively high-sensitivity microorganisms may have a bactericidal effect.
Zithromax - antibiotic of a wide spectrum of action. Antibiotic-azalide, a representative of a new subgroup of macrolide antibiotics. In the focus of inflammation it has a bactericidal effect. For the active ingredient of Zithromax, Azithromycin, all the gram-positive cocci (except those bacteria which are resistant to erythromycin) are susceptible.
The drug is an inhibitor of the enzyme peptidyl. It inhibits the angiotensin-converting enzyme, which catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to vasoconstrictor peptide angiotensin II. Angiotensin II also stimulates the secretion of aldosterone by the adrenal cortex. Inhibition of ACE leads to reduced concentrations of angiotensin II, resulting in low aldosterone secretion. The decrease in the latter leads to an increase in the content of potassium in the blood serum. Since the mechanism is believed to be based on the inhibition of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, it reduces blood pressure even in patients with hypertension with low renin levels.
Topamax - the remedy with an active ingredient: topiramate, it is used as a monotherapy for the treatment of adults and children 6 years of age with partial attacks with or without secondary generalized seizures and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures; as an adjunct therapy for the treatment of adults and children 2 years of age with partial attacks with or without secondary generalized seizures or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures and the treatment of attacks associated with Lennox-Gasto syndrome; to prevent migraine attacks in adults, after careful evaluation of alternative treatment options. Topiramate is not recommended for the treatment of acute conditions.
Casodex - racemic mix, a nonsteroid anti-androgen which does not influence endocrine system in any way. The mechanism of effect of active component consists in its ability to contact androgenic receptors of "wild type" and to oppress the activity, thereby, bringing a prostate tumor into a regression stage. Casodex is taken as a medicine for monotherapy, and as a part of complex treatment (radiation).
Betahistine is diaminoxidase inhibitor - the enzyme inactivating histamine. Stabilizing the histamine which is formed in an organism, betahistine has a histamine-like effect. Drug is effective at peroral taking (by mouth). Drug expands precapillary sphincters of vessels of an inner ear, it improves microcirculation. The main use of betahistine has at Menyer's disease and similar diseases which are followed by dizziness attacks, a sonitus, a hearing impairment, nausea, vomiting.
