Drug Uses
Prilosec is a proton pump inhibitor, which blocks the final step of acid production and is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Prilosec is prescribed to elderly and adult patients for treatment of:

For treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease in adults and elderly patients, the recommended dose of Prilosec may vary between 20-60 mg per day. A daily dose of Prilosec for a child is adjusted according to his weight. A children dose of Prilosec may vary from 5 to 20 mg.
Missed dose
Take a missed dose of Prilosec, as soon as you remember. But if it's time for the next dose of proton pump inhibitor, do not take it. And after the next dose intake, return to the regular dosing schedule of Prilosec.
More Information
For treatment of ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori, Prilosec can be used in combination with antibiotics (clarithromycin, amoxicillin).
