Drug Uses
Sinemet is a combination drug related to a therapeutic class known as antiparkinsonian agents. Sinemet is used to manage rare and more common forms of parkinsonism or parkinsonian syndrome, such as:
Parkinson's disease (PD)
Symptomatic and post-encephalitic parkinsonism
Sinemet stops or reduces progression of parkinsonism symptoms, including symptoms that can result in disability. This effect is achieved because Sinemet improves the process of replenishing dopamine in the brain.
At the beginning of the parkinsonian syndrome treatment, one tablet of Sinemet 25/ 100mg should be taken, three times a day. The dosage can be increased by one tablet every 24 or 48 hours till the maximum recommended daily Sinemet dosage of eight 25/100mg tablets is achieved.
Missed dose
If you’ve missed the assigned dosage of Sinemet, take the antiparkinsonian agent as soon as you remember. However, do not take Sinemet if it is time for the next prescribed dosage of this drug. Return to regular dosing schedule of Sinemet on the next day.
More Information
Combined dopaminergic drug Sinemet starts acting within first days of treatment, and sometimes even after the first dose intake. The clinically significant antiparkinsonian effect is achieved within 7-10 days after initiating Sinemet-therapy.

Sinemet Side Effects
